ACE (micro Electromechanical actuator) was born with the aim of designing, developing and validating an electro-mechanical microactuator that will be part of the blocking system of the landing gear of a civilian aircraft thus replacing conventional hydraulic systems.
The equipment on which the actuator will be integrated consists of a hook that secures both the trains and the doors in their retracted position. The unlocking of the hook allows the opening of the doors and the extension of the trains at the time of landing.
The normal operation of the equipment is carried out by means of a hydraulic system, while the electro-mechanical microactuator to be developed in the project will be used for emergency unlocking in case of failure of the main system.
The ACE project addresses the development and manufacture of micro actuators capable of being installed in highly reduced spaces while maintaining the necessary power.
The objective of achieving a compact EMA involves the development of critical components such as the motor and spindle to maintain the geometric limitations marked.
