Skylife Engineering has participated in the AWIMAS (Aeronautic Wiring Management System) project to digitally model aircraft wiring management.
The main goal of this project, within a consortium headed by Airbus, is to design and develop an digital industrial replica to manage aircraft wiring.
The project uses the DMU (Digital Mock Up) as its sole data source, not just to define the product but also when defining processes, and even integrating the production environment.
The main benefit of this project is that it defines optimised manufacturing and assembling processes that maximise efficiency, resulting in improved competitiveness.
Within AWIMAS, Skylife has headed activities related to virtual reality and augmented reality for assembling cockpit control units and electrical fault detection in the fuselage. Likewise, it has also developed tools to analyse electrical continuity for aircraft wiring systems, to be applied to the manufacture of cabling and harnesses and electrical systems assembly, in addition to reflectometry techniques.

The AWIMAS project was funded by the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD) through the “Operational Programme for Intelligent Growth 2014-2020” and the Ministry of Economy and Competition through the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI in Spanish) within the framework of FEDER INTERCONECTA 2015, bearing the file number ITC-20151055.
