IoT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept that refers to the interconnection of electronic devices, sensors and information systems, connected to the Internet or only to local networks, to share and collect data. These devices can range from simple sensors to complex electronic devices.

In the industrial sector, IoT is mainly used for monitoring and controlling systems and equipment. For example, in a photovoltaic installation, sensors and IoT devices can collect and transmit information about energy production, weather conditions and equipment status, allowing for continuous optimization and improvement of performance.

There is a wide disparity of sectors in which IoT is changing the way information is managed:

Manufacturing: Manufacturers are using IoT devices to monitor and control production processes, enabling them to improve the efficiency and quality of their products. For example, IoT sensors can collect data on machine usage and send it to a central system for better planning and maintenance.

Energy: Energy companies are using IoT devices to monitor and control energy production and consumption, enabling them to improve efficiency and safety in their facilities. For example, IoT sensors can collect data on energy production in a photovoltaic installation and send it to a central system for better optimization and control.

Automotive sector: Car manufacturers are increasingly incorporating IoT devices into their vehicles to improve safety, efficiency and user experience. For example, IoT sensors can collect vehicle health data and send it to the cloud for remote diagnostics, improving safety and maintenance efficiency.

Agriculture: Farmers are using IoT devices to monitor and control irrigation, lighting and temperature in their crops, enabling them to improve the quality and productivity of their crops.

Health: IoT devices are changing the way health is monitored and treated. For example, health monitoring devices, such as smartwatches and tracking sensors, are helping healthcare professionals collect and analyze real-time data to improve medical care.

In short, IoT is a key technology in the industrial sector, especially in monitoring and controlling systems and equipment, and improving efficiency and safety. The use of sensors and IoT devices enables real-time data collection and transmission, allowing more informed decision-making and continuous improvement in performance.
