TOKAMAK
The TOKAMAK SMART project is part of the manufacturing and commissioning of a plasma particle fusion reactor, which aims to obtain large amounts of energy without the use of non-renewable fuels.
Skylife Engineering, in its commitment to sustainability, participates in this project in charge of the design and manufacture of the magnetic field coils, the microwave system and the power supply system of the SMART Tokamak (Small Aspect Ratio Tokamak).
The coil system consists of 3 subsystems, designed to generate and control the plasma flow inside the vacuum chamber. In total, more than 3000 kg of high conductivity copper will be available.
The 6kW microwave system operating at 2.45 GHz acts as a driver in the process of plasma generation inside the vacuum chamber.
The power supply system will consist of 5 pieces of equipment to generate a magnetic pulse in the coil system that will form and control the plasma flow in the vacuum chamber. The electrical pulses will be generated by banks of supercapacitors, with the possibility of being charged with domestic electric current.
The proposed infrastructure will allow the development in Andalusia of a broad spectrum of research lines in plasma physics and fusion technology, with a unique contribution to the ITER project and to the European fusion strategy.
The objective is the installation of a compact spherical tokamak, unique in Spain, which will be a world reference in the development of fusion by magnetic confinement.
