Virtual Trainer

Support for Airbus in the development of their own Virtual Simulator with the capability for multipurpose training of pilots and mechanics

  • Sector:
    Aerospace
  • Customer:
    Airbus DS
  • Estado:
    Active

Background

In a highly technical sector with significant demands for advanced training, Airbus DS faces the challenge of providing practical, agile, and effective training for both pilots and mechanics to expedite the learning curve. Additionally, a robust system is needed, deployable on economical systems to enable portability and the creation of training classrooms with numerous students. All while maintaining a high aerospace technical standard.

Project

VIRTUAL TRAINER proposes a project to provide digitalization support to Airbus DS for the development of a virtual simulator based on guidelines and validations from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in Aerial Matters. The objective is to cover training for mechanics and pilots for the C295, MRTT, and A400M programs.

This tool aims to significantly reduce the learning curve through the integration of different difficulty levels. From guided step-by-step sessions to examination mode, including a free mode with the ability to interact with the entire aircraft using the 'learning by doing' concept.

Solution

Skylife Engineering S.L. supports Airbus DS in the development of their own Virtual Simulator with multipurpose training capabilities, used for training mechanics, pilots, and creating operation manuals for the C295, MRTT, and A400M programs.

It integrates physical simulations enhancing training fidelity with realistic 3D scenarios and various Application Modes:
  • Component localization
  • Equipment loading operation simulator
  • Cockpit procedures for pilots
  • Maintenance tasks for mechanics
Features:
  • Various difficulty levels
  • Multiplatform (tablet, PC, and virtual reality)
  • Easy integration with external applications
  • Background simulations replicating engineering systems
  • Introduction of faults to assess student response
The end result is a simulator based on low-cost commercial equipment, facilitating deployment and portability, enabling the creation of classrooms for training a large number of students.

All content and functionality developments are guided and validated by corresponding Aircraft Subject Matter Experts (SME) associated with each training program.

Benefits

  • Reduced learning curve for pilots and mechanics
  • Integration of physical simulations enhancing training fidelity
  • Multiplatform tool with easy deployment in classrooms
  • High modeling fidelity for true-to-life reproductions
