Digitalization of ground-testing Life cycle with ECO design criteria

Background

The DILECO project addresses the need to maintain leadership in the aviation industry while adapting to new sustainability trends. Digitalization and eco-efficiency in production are key to achieving these goals. Many processes at the Ground System Test (GST) station of the Final Assembly Line (FAL) show a low level of automation, offering significant opportunities for improvement in digitalization and PLM tool integration.

The Project

The overall objective of the project is to develop and deploy PLM tools for ground functional testing of aircraft, guided by eco-design principles. The aim is to enhance the sustainability of the final assembly line and improve the end-to-end efficiency of ground system testing.

The Solution

The proposed solution includes the implementation of advanced technologies within the final assembly line to boost sustainability and testing efficiency. This involves introducing more efficient assembly procedures, leveraging commercially available technologies, and integrating proven methods such as mobile assembly lines, visual control systems, point-of-use staging, and just-in-time delivery systems.

Benefits Obtained

  • Production cost reduction: Automation in aircraft assembly lines lowers production costs and delivers a rapid return on investment (ROI), offsetting initial setup expenses.
  • Quality and reliability improvement: Automation ensures that products are consistently manufactured to the same specifications and processes, minimizing the need for rework.
  • Maintaining competitiveness: Reduced lead times and lower costs make offerings more attractive to customers, delivering maximum performance at minimal expense.

Why Skylife?

Skylife Engineering leads the project thanks to its expertise in advanced technology integration and strong commitment to sustainability in the aviation industry.
