Remote, digiral assistant and training system
REDIA Spirit is an immersive telepresence solution that is transforming training and operational support in industrial environments. Powered by the Skylife ULTIMATE platform, it enhances human–machine interaction by integrating collaborative extended reality, enabling greater productivity, improved operational efficiency, and increased industrial resilience.
The Project
Context and Challenges
Telepresence represents the next generation of communication technologies, redefining immersive experiences in both human-to-human and human-to-machine interactions by seamlessly blending the physical and virtual worlds. While these technologies are already reshaping the way we work, their long-term impact will be even greater, driving higher industrial productivity, improving energy efficiency, and strengthening resilience to environmental disruptions.
Despite their potential, the widespread adoption of immersive telepresence solutions remains limited due to their complexity, high implementation costs, demanding data compression requirements, and the need for significant network bandwidth.
Our Approach
SPIRIT, a project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme, is researching, developing, and validating scalable, low-latency technologies that will enable real-time immersive telepresence to become a practical reality.
Within this initiative, Skylife REDIA (Remote, Digital Assistant and Training System) is transforming industrial training through Skylife ULTIMATE—an innovative, remote, multi-user platform that enables operators and technicians to train collaboratively in extended reality (XR) from anywhere in the world.
Our vision goes beyond telepresence, creating immersive and interactive experiences where multiple users can communicate, collaborate, and perform tasks within the same virtual environment. This approach enhances learning, coordination, and decision-making in critical operational scenarios.
By removing geographical barriers, reducing training costs, and streamlining knowledge transfer, REDIA delivers significant value across industries such as aerospace, manufacturing, and energy. Fully aligned with the principles of Industry 5.0, the platform prioritises worker safety and operational efficiency through real-time data analysis.
The Solution
Skylife's Digital Assistant and Virtual Simulator solutions share the same vision as the SPIRIT Platform: using immersive telepresence to bridge distances and enhance collaboration in operational environments.
Our technology is redefining the way industrial procedures are performed and how professionals are trained. Instead of treating training and operations as separate activities, we combine them into a single, integrated ecosystem where the same digital content supports both learning and real-world operations.
The solution is fully cross-platform, allowing users to access the same experience through extended reality headsets, laptops, web platforms, or tablets.
This approach fundamentally changes the traditional training model. New operators can begin performing real tasks from day one while receiving contextual guidance during their daily activities. Rather than following a fixed training programme, learning becomes a continuous process seamlessly integrated into operations.
To support this, the digital assistant dynamically adapts to each operator's level of expertise, gradually reducing guidance, prompts, and validation checkpoints as proficiency increases.
Benefits
This solution represents a major step forward by combining remote connectivity with advanced simulation technologies to deliver more efficient, accessible, and scalable industrial training.
It significantly reduces the costs associated with on-site training, minimises operational downtime, and accelerates knowledge transfer between international experts and local operators. Its flexibility enables deployment across a wide range of industries—including aerospace, energy, and advanced manufacturing—while providing tailored training programmes based on individual roles, responsibilities, and skill levels.
Our approach is fully aligned with the principles of Industry 5.0, placing people at the centre of technological innovation. Collaborative multi-user training not only improves operational performance but also transforms training into a strategic digital asset by generating valuable data that supports continuous improvement in both training methodologies and workplace safety.
At Skylife, we continue to develop cutting-edge solutions that connect people, technology, and knowledge to shape the future of industrial training.
