This R&D project, coordinated by Skylife Engineering within a consortium of three associated companies and funded under the Spanish Innovative Business Groups (AEI) programme, aimed to analyse the operation and maintenance procedures currently used in the photovoltaic sector. As part of the project, the technical and economic impact of integrating emerging Industry 4.0 technologies was evaluated in order to digitalise and transform operation and maintenance processes across the photovoltaic industry.

Through the incorporation of Industry 4.0 technologies such as remote assistance, interactive guidance, geolocation, automated image processing, and the processing and monitoring of data from plant components, the project improved performance, quality, and safety compared with the techniques, technologies, and methodologies currently used within the sector.

This project was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) under the AEI-010500-2020-54 programme.

The project was carried out between 2020 and 2021, with a budget of 73.800 € allocated to Skylife Engineering and a total consortium budget of 202.032 €. As project coordinator, Skylife Engineering received 80% grant funding, supporting the development of innovative technological solutions with a strong commitment to sustainability and excellence.
